Converge allows you to tailor how risk is calculated by adjusting the weightings of Consequence and Likelihood within your Custom Risk Profiles. This gives you more control over how risk is prioritized across your pipeline assets.

Default Risk Calculation

By default, Converge applies the following weighting:

  • 70% Consequence
  • 30% Likelihood

You can modify this to suit your organization’s risk tolerance—for example, a 50/50 split or any other ratio.

⚠️ Note: This change affects risk scoring, but does not alter the layout of the risk matrix.

How Converge Calculates Risk

  1. Each line segment is scored individually using your selected weightings.
  2. Converge identifies the maximum weighted score across all segments.
  3. This score is used to determine the final Consequence and Likelihood values for the asset.

Customizing Risk Factors

You can also adjust the individual components that contribute to Consequence and Likelihood scores.

Consequence Factors

  • Accessibility
  • Indigenous Land
  • H₂S Partial Pressure
  • Land Use
  • Protected Areas
  • Population Density
  • Pipeline Volume
  • Transportation Crossing
  • Water Crossing

Likelihood Factors

| ? Note: Likelihood values are calculated separately for Steel and Composite pipelines.

Steel Pipelines

  • Geo Technical
  • External Cracking
  • External Corrosivity
  • Internal Cracking
  • Internal Corrosivity
  • Flow Characteristics

Composite Pipelines

  • Age
  • Construction
  • Cyclic Service
  • Failure History
  • Flow Rate
  • Temperature
  • Pressure
  • Geo Technical

After Applying Changes

  • Once you save your weighting adjustments, Converge will begin recalculating the risk scores.
  • You’ll receive a confirmation email once the update is complete.
  • It may take a few minutes for the changes to appear in the Risk Matrix, Risk Dashboard, and other related views.
